What is IR sauna?

Gentle infrared warmth that sinks deep into your body — an hour of sweat, recovery and calm in a private room, entirely on your own terms.

Why you'll love IR sauna

Every session gives you all of this at once — here is what an hour of infrared warmth does for you.

What is an infrared sauna?

An infrared sauna warms your body directly with infrared light instead of heating the air around you. It is the same kind of warmth you feel from the sun on your skin — just without the UV rays.

Because the heat goes straight into your body, the air can stay at a much milder temperature. A traditional Finnish sauna usually runs at 80–100 °C; ours sits around 65 °C. You still sweat properly, but you can breathe easily and stay in comfortably for longer.

In practice, you step into your own private cabin, sit back and let the warmth sink in. Within a few minutes your muscles start to loosen, your heart rate rises gently — much like on a slow walk — and before long the sweat comes from deep down. There is no steam, no stinging hot air and nobody else in the room. Just you, the warmth and the music of your choice.

Infrared sauna, step by step

  1. Step 1

    Grab your towels

Fresh towels are waiting for you in the lobby. Take what you need and head to your private room.

  2. Step 2

    Choose your music

Connect your phone and play whatever you like inside the sauna — a calming playlist, a podcast or complete silence.

  3. Step 3

    Set the light

Pick a colour that matches your mood — warm tones to wind down, cool tones to feel fresh and clear-headed.

  4. Step 4

    Sit back and sweat

Lean back and let the infrared warmth sink in. Stay as long as feels good — the hour is yours.

Bonus wellness ritual

Hot, cold, repeat

Turn your hour into a full spa experience. Warm up in the sauna for 15–20 minutes, then take a cold shower for 30 seconds to a minute. Repeat two or three times and finish warm. Switching between hot and cold gets your blood flowing, wakes up your whole body and leaves you feeling lighter than when you came in — included in every session at no extra cost.

Infrared sauna vs traditional sauna — what's the difference?

A traditional sauna heats the air with a stove or hot stones, and the hot air heats you. An infrared sauna skips the air and warms your body directly. The result is a gentler heat at a lower temperature, which many people find easier to handle — especially if a regular sauna feels too intense.

Most of the long-term research comes from Finnish traditional saunas, but the core effect is the same: your body warms up, your circulation increases and you sweat. Choose the one you enjoy — the best sauna is the one you actually use regularly.

What are the benefits of infrared sauna?

Guests mostly come for relaxation, muscle recovery, better sleep and relief from stiffness, back and joint pain. Studies on sauna bathing link regular use to lower blood pressure, better heart health, less muscle soreness after training and a calmer nervous system.

Many also notice softer, clearer skin after a good sweat, and that they fall asleep more easily in the evening — the drop in body temperature after the session is a natural signal to the body that it is time to rest.

How long should you sit in an infrared sauna, and how often?

If you are new to it, start with 20–30 minutes and listen to your body. Regular guests often sit for 30–45 minutes, with breaks to cool down and drink water. Your booking gives you a full hour in the room, so there is plenty of time to take it at your own pace.

For lasting benefits, consistency beats intensity. Two to four sessions a week is what most research and regular sauna-goers point to — which is exactly why our memberships make it cheaper the more often you come.

Are infrared saunas safe? Can they cause cancer?

Infrared saunas are safe for most healthy adults. Infrared light is not the same as UV light: it does not tan or burn your skin, and it is not linked to skin cancer. It is simply warmth.

As with any sauna, drink plenty of water, get out if you feel dizzy and avoid alcohol before your session. If you are pregnant, have a heart condition, low blood pressure or another medical condition, check with your doctor before booking.

Do infrared saunas detox your body or help you lose weight?

Honest answer: sweating is not a shortcut to detox — your liver and kidneys do that job. And most of the weight you lose in a session is water, which comes back as soon as you drink.

What a sauna does do is raise your heart rate and circulation, help you relax and recover, and support better sleep — all of which make it easier to keep up a healthy routine. Think of it as part of a lifestyle, not a quick fix.

What should I bring, and what should I wear?

Just yourself. Towels are waiting in the lobby, and you have the room entirely to yourself, so most people sauna in a towel or nothing at all. Bring a water bottle, and maybe your phone with a favourite playlist — you can play your own music inside the sauna.

Avoid a heavy meal right before, and take a shower afterwards to rinse off the sweat and cool down.

Is infrared sauna good after a workout?

Yes — it is one of the most common reasons people come. The warmth increases blood flow to tired muscles, eases stiffness and helps you feel looser the next day. Studies on sauna after exercise point to less muscle soreness and better perceived recovery.

Give yourself ten minutes to cool down and drink some water after training before you step in, and keep hydrating afterwards.
