What is floating?

Floating lets you experience complete weightlessness — an hour where body and mind drift freely, with nothing to do and nowhere to be.

Why you'll love floating

Every float gives you all of this at once — here is what an hour in the tank does for you.

What is float therapy?

Float therapy means lying in a float tank filled with body-temperature water and a large amount of Epsom salt. The salt makes the water so dense that you float effortlessly on the surface — much like in the Dead Sea, only in the middle of Gothenburg.

Light, sound and gravity are reduced to a minimum. With nothing for your senses to process, heart rate slows, thoughts soften and you drift into a deep, meditative calm.

In practice, you step into your own private tank and lie back. There is no sound, nothing to see and nothing to hear — you simply float. Because the water holds your skin temperature, the line between body and water starts to blur, and after a while you stop feeling your body at all. All that is left is stillness.

Floating, step by step

  1. Step 1

    Choose your program

Before your session starts, pick a program — completely silent, or with gentle sound to ease you in and out.

  2. Step 2

    Put in your earplugs

Earplugs keep the salt water out and the world quiet. They are waiting for you in the room.

  3. Step 3

    Take a shower

A quick shower before you float keeps the water clean and helps your body start to unwind.

  4. Step 4

    Float

Step in, lie back and let go. The salt water carries you — all that is left to do is nothing.

Is a float tank the same as a sensory deprivation tank?

Yes. Float tank, isolation tank, sensory deprivation tank and REST tank (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy) all describe the same thing. We simply prefer "floating" — it's less about deprivation and more about finally getting some space.

What are the benefits of floating?

Guests most often float for deep relaxation, lower stress, better sleep and relief from tense muscles, back and neck pain. Athletes use it for faster recovery, and many find it clears the head and sparks creativity.

Because the body is fully supported, muscles and joints can let go completely, while the Epsom salt gives you a magnesium-rich soak at the same time.

How does a float session work?

There is no staff on site, so you let yourself in and take the visit at your own pace. Clear instructions guide you at every step. You shower, step into the tank, choose light or complete darkness, and float for the hour. Afterwards you shower off the salt and take a moment before heading back out.

What should I bring, and what should I wear?

Most people float without clothes — you're completely alone in the room. Towels, earplugs and shower products are there for you. Avoid shaving or waxing the same day, since the salt can sting fresh skin, and skip a heavy meal or coffee right before.

Is floating safe? What if I feel claustrophobic?

Floating is gentle and safe for most people. The water is only about 25 cm deep and you float on your back without effort, even if you fall asleep. You are always in control: you can keep the light on, leave the lid or door open and step out whenever you like.

If you are pregnant, have epilepsy, open wounds or a medical condition, check with your doctor before booking.

How often should you float, and is it worth it?

Many guests notice a difference after the very first session, but the effect tends to deepen as you learn to let go. The first float is often spent getting used to the feeling. That's why regular floaters come back weekly or monthly — and why our memberships make it cheaper the more you float.
